Noo’s Strogonoff

This is my 11 year old's favourite thing to cook.

  • 5 deboned chicken breasts (cubed (You can also used tenderised steak))
  • 1 punnet mushrooms (thinly sliced)
  • 1 small red, yellow and green peppers (cubed)
  • 2 sticks celery (thinly sliced)
  • 1 small onion (finely cubed)
  • 250 ml cream (the cream needs to cover the chicken while its cooking)
  • 3 tbsp brown onion soup/brown onion gravy powder
  • ½ cup milk
  1. Lightly fry the onion and celery till the onion is translucent

  2. Add the chicken/steak and fry till it has browned on all sides

  3. Add the mushrooms and cook till soft, then add the peppers In a mixing bowl, mix the cream and onion soup/gravy powder making sure there aren’t any lumps

  4. Add to the chicken mixture and stir regularly

  5. To make sure that it doesn’t burn, turn your plate down to a medium low heat

  6. The sauce will thicken and if its a little to thick, add the milk about 5 minutes before serving

  7. Serve with rice, vegetables and salad

I like to make this using portabello mushrooms with coconut cream for a vegan/vegetarian dish
