Noo’s Strogonoff

This is my 11 year old's favourite thing to cook.
Servings: 6 people

Ingredients

  • 5 deboned chicken breasts cubed (You can also used tenderised steak)
  • 1 punnet mushrooms thinly sliced
  • 1 small red, yellow and green peppers cubed
  • 2 sticks celery thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion finely cubed
  • 250 ml cream the cream needs to cover the chicken while its cooking
  • 3 tbsp brown onion soup/brown onion gravy powder
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  • Lightly fry the onion and celery till the onion is translucent
  • Add the chicken/steak and fry till it has browned on all sides
  • Add the mushrooms and cook till soft, then add the peppers In a mixing bowl, mix the cream and onion soup/gravy powder making sure there aren’t any lumps
  • Add to the chicken mixture and stir regularly
  • To make sure that it doesn’t burn, turn your plate down to a medium low heat
  • The sauce will thicken and if its a little to thick, add the milk about 5 minutes before serving
  • Serve with rice, vegetables and salad

I like to make this using portabello mushrooms with coconut cream for a vegan/vegetarian dish
