Who is Flylady and how has she helped me?

Marla Cilley is The FlyLady. She does not fly a plane! To keep a long story short, Marla loves to teach people to flyfish. That is how she got the name — FlyLady. Marla is a SHE (Sidetracked Home Executive). This system saved her life and continues to bless her. When Marla found the SHESintouch.com website years ago, she needed a user name for the forums. Everyone was trying to help her come up with one. When they found out that she loved to flyfish and she taught it at a local college, they came up with “FlyLady.” It is because of Marla’s SHEness that she can now teach others. On December 7, 1999, someone asked Marla for help, and the FlyLady mentoring group began. This group has always been her gift to whoever joined. All Marla ever wanted to do was help people.

And now, the name, FlyLady, has come to mean so much more. One of her members came up with a great acronym for it: Finally Loving Yourself (FLY) – this is the gift that FlyLady wants you to receive. It was only after Marla learned out how to “FLY” that she was able to become the person of her dreams.

Finally Loving Yourself!

The perfect description on how much I’ve changed in the last while. This doesn’t happen over night and I’m still working on that.

I love the three “Flylady rules to live by”:
1. Don’t sweat the small stuff; what doesn’t matter, doesn’t matter.
2. Laugh everyday. Even if it is at yourself.
3. Love like there is no tomorrow.

Number one is probably the hardest thing for me. I suffer from anxiety that can be triggered by the smallest, most insignificant, things. Not sweating the small stuff is really, really, hard for me, But it is getting better.

Flylady has Baby Steps to help you get into a routine and slowly work your way into getting your home and life in order. Simple things like setting a morning and bedtime routine. Things we think we have under control, but very rarely do.

I decided that as from today, I’ll be restarting the Baby Steps and taking control of my home and life again. It’s so easy to let things get out of control and once they are, its so hard not to get obverwhelmed and get it all back to what it was. It’s time to take control again. I can do it!
